FINDING MY RELIGION / Psychiatrist Jim B. Tucker studies past-life memories of children

FINDING MY RELIGION / Psychiatrist Jim B. Tucker studies past-life memories of children

Here is a guy risking his career by thinking... always a good sign. This sort of open-mindedness is good for society and the paper didn't look down on Dr. Tucker as so many would have. Some fascinating cases are mentioned and I imagine there are tons more in the book itself. I'm familiar with some of the excellent past-life work of Dr. Barbara Lane on Civil War reenactors who seem to harbor the souls of "returnees," which is also most interesting; the work with children seems slightly different as it is described here in that the kids start reminiscing at around 3 years and then usually forget it all before they hit double digits. Exciting stuff! I wonder why they forget. This is one of the areas that we need to understand in order to grasp the interconnectedness of the universe in it's entirety... and the real nature of what makes us human. Dr. Tucker speaks of quantum level goings on which is a decidedly forward-thinking approach. No doubt an excellent book. Interesting that the article is in "Finding My Religion," but I guess that makes some sort of sense given the nature of the subject.

You ask why the kids seem to forget these memories as they get older...I wonder if it isn't some neurological change in their developing brains?

We were fortunate to have Dr.Raymond Moody speak to us about his book "Reunions" many years ago at FortFest and it dovetails into this reincarnation bit. He devised an easy way to contact the dead...and proved it. The Ancient Greeks had a word for it of course"Psychomentram" if memory serves and Dr.Moody reworked it into a simlpier device. Alas , he asked that we not reproduce the lecture so you'll have to but the book:) The last time Barbara Lane regressed me, I think I was an eel, but I had my very own Cement Pond! Surronded by orchids no less.

hey defrost! Thanks. Interesting point that could well explain it. I'm sure there are reconfigurations as we develop. My memories from back then are very limited, so that thought's got some power in it. As Jim can attest however, I have trouble remembering what I did this morning, so I may not be the best reference point. :)

I'm thinking phenomenon also must mean that these are true event memories, rather than a "visitation" by the preceding person.

I wish I'd started hanging out when Dr. Moody was around. I'm interested in checking out his device. Thinking of our Puca as an eel is definitely a most interesting exercise!
